Hi,

I am looking for a good video to help teach 5 - 6th graders in our rel. ed. program to learn the truth of abortion. It was reported that only 2 out of (I don’t know how many) maybe 12 or so, thought abortion is okay! It’s legal after all, they said.

I’m doing some internet research, but thought maybe someone could make a suggestion. I’d like not to have to show gory pictures of aborted babies; maybe a few, but want to show beautiful babies in the womb.

My thought was to show a good one on fetal development, like Baby Steps, the one in 4-D. Then stop at points and let them know an abortion could take place at every stage; that the baby feels pain at 5 months (or is it earlier?), that it is dangerous for the mother, etc.; also to ask questions of the students. I think better that then one like Hard Truth where it shows aborted babies. Also, have fetal models available so they get an idea of the actual size.

Thanks in advance to all who reply!

Fifth Graders are not too young to know the truth about abortion–that it means the killing of babies before birth. You don’t have to show gruesome pictures but you have to tell them the truth. Every one of them lived through the same developmental stages as all children in the womb, some of whom are deliberately killed before birth.

Thank you!

I like the fact that Baby Steps is in real time.

Geremia, do you know how long it is? I would like something short, under 15 min.

I have to wonder what kind of info kids get about fetal development in school. Probably they are given lots about birth control and mechanics of sex first and then abortion is lumped in with birth control. I will have to ask the kids.

And I will definitely read more of the Face to Face article.

God bless,
Mimi

Since nothing important goes without saying, make sure what you use is approved by your Pastor and your DRE.

Have you checked with your Diocese Resepct Life office for materials they have that are age appropriate? You may also want to call the USCCB Respect Life offices for suggestions.

I know you asked about a video, have you looked at the book “Angel in the Waters”?

I’m glad you’re doing this for the 5th graders, but I do think (as was previously stated by others) that caution is advised as far as horrific images are concerned. I know this is a touchy subject, but I was 17 when I first saw images of abortion and it horrified me…and still does.

I’m sure you’ll do what is appropriate.

+1 on this.

Very, very important that you don’t show any video without specific approval from both your pastor and DRE.

Peace

Yes, of course. Actually, I am not directly involved in this; I am seeking info for a religious sister who was, though. We work closely together on a number of pro-life projects.

Our pastor isn’t v actively pro-life, but I don’t see why he would object to a beautiful video such as Baby Steps. We would like him to lead the discussion or presentation, though.

Some of you might might be interested in listening to a Pro-Life Internet radio network.

The link is

It has a mix of Pro-Life news & talk shows & Christian music
