having a disussion about St. paul. Did not St. Paul (I think) say that if someone who had nevere heard of Jesus could achieve salvation? Or something of that sort.

You’re probably thinking of Romans 1:20 or thereabouts, but no, it does not explicitly say that.

No - but that concept could be inferred by:

John 9:41 (Jesus said, "If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains); and

John 15:22 (If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin. Now, however, they have no excuse for their sin).

Many/most Protestants wont read these verses that broadly (I do). I think (don’t know - I’m not Catholic) that the Catholic Catchesim includes some leaway for those who have never heard the gospel - perhaps on this basis (which is consistent with the view that those infants and others not yet at the age of accountability) can find salvation.
