I saw some terms I do not understand being used on this website.

Orthodox Catholic

Heterodox Catholic

What is the difference?

Orthodox Catholic = accepts all Catholic doctrine
Heterodox Catholic = does not accept all Catholic doctrine
 
Heterodox Catholic is just a fancy term for Cafeteria Catholic. In other words a heretic, pure and simple.
 
The term “Orthodox Catholic” actually refers to an Eastern Orthodox Christian. The Eastern Orthodox Church is formally called the Orthodox Catholic Church. The term “orthodox Catholic” refers to a Catholic who abides by the true and taught Catholic faith.

Friend I hear u. Lol. I was told I need a heavier prescription. But its a fair trade because my three years old eyes are getting better.😃 (he has strambismis)

It is my understanding that one is not a heretic until declared one by the Church. One may have unorthodox ideas, which may or may not be heretical, but the Church is the one to determine who is a heretic or not, and also what is a heresy.

I have seen on these forums, things called heretical, which were not, and people called heretics, without any reference to the Church declaring them to be so.

We should be careful that we approach these things with right judgment and in charity, and always with the mind of the Church. We should never toss these terms about loosely, as that undermines the seriousness of actual heresy. We, as, laypersons have no authority to determine either people as heretical, or beliefs, unless it has been previously determined by the Church.

When so called “Cafeteria Catholics” publicly support contraception and abortion as do several self proclaimed catholic politicians, such as Ms. Sibelius, Ms. Pelosi, and our beloved Vice President, is that not heresy?
As for charity, our current Holy Father has publicly stated with regards to Catholics who pick and choose what they want to believe, that it would perhaps be better if we were a smaller church.
I will not go further because I do not want to be suspended from this venue.

Preach on brother!! Good point. I am not to sure of heresy definition either. But I rather be around heritics then apostates. 😉 I am with you. I am sick of cherry pickers. 👍
