[A LITTLE BACKSTORY]

I am a computer geek (sorta) and I really enjoy the art of computer animation, some day I hope to be good enough to use the art as a medium to bring glory to God. Anyways I belong to an online community of other people who also very much enjoy the art.

The problem is that most of the people in this field are liberals and athiests, my hope is to also act as a evangelist when I get into the industry (we need lots of Catholics in Hollywood to beat some sense into there heads!).

[THE PROBLEM]

Recently a thread has been started that is incredibly bad (promoting strip clubs) there has never been such a post on this site before. But I feel that I must state my beliefs. My problem is that I am young and not well versed in this type of thing and I’m not sure how to argue my point.

I have not posted yet. so I would like some suggestions.

I was going to first say that nudity in an of itself isn’t wrong, after all we get naked to take a shower don’t we? But I am not sure how to argue to an athiest that lust is wrong. If it were a Christian I was talking to I could pull a few bible verses (like the one where Jesus said that lusting over a woman is the same as commiting adultery, or something to that effect). But how can I argue this to someone who believes in nothing?

BTW- My username over there at 3DBuzz is Gollum15

If I were you, I’d send a message to the moderator(s) of the site and remind them that there are under-aged people in the discussion forum so you feel that a thread promoting strip clubs is inappropriate on a public forum. You may want to suggest that they introduce a closed forum for people to discuss such adult issues. You see, this way you don’t appear to be imposing your values on others but are simply bringing up a legitimate concern the moderates can understand. 😉

And, although I applaud your zeal, as you say, you are young and inexperienced in apologetics. So, don’t try to get into discussions that are over your head. Take time to learn your faith and how to defend it before trying to dive into such adult discussions. There is plenty of time to learn, but it is easy to get swamped when you aren’t sure what you are talking about. 🙂

I agree with the earlier advice. If you get in over your head, you can do more damage than good.

What can you do then?

Pray
Fast
Worship
Live the Faith
Confess your sins
Adore the Eucharist
Lean more so you’ll be ready to answer next time

well, if they are atheist, they won’t be … impressed by your
bible based arguments…

but, they are liberal… so

maybe if you lead in with a ‘degrading to the men and
women when only viewed as sexual objects’ then discussing
the damage this can do to a person… emotional damage,
damage to their ego…then the ‘spiritual’ damage this can do to a person… once you slip the ‘spiritual’ damage in, you can
start to work on a religious basis…

maybe… lol

🙂

and i also have to agree that the first responder to you thread
is right… 🙂

Bingo. 👍

Touches of light sarcasm help, too.

Good advise. I will send a private message to a moderator (unfortunitly “Jason Busby” aka “busbyj” is fully behind the thread and made a post in it. However I will still make an effort to ask them to keep in mind us younger users.
