I know a lot about my faith and I was born into it however I have lots of friends who are Christian but from other churches and/or protestant. Occasionally I get a lot of questions and I feel bad that I have to reference or find material because I don’t have a defense off the top of my head.

I was wondering if anyone has a great source to answer the common questions about the church.

Also any material that will help me defend the church from church hating protestants would be nice too. Like a list of bible passages defending:
  • Mary remained a virgin
  • The pope’s authority descended from peter
  • Bible interpretation and tradition (not bible alone)
  • Once saved always saved vs. (mortal sin/venial sin)
  • Faith vs. Works ( big one! but already found James)
  • Born again stuff
  • Holy communion (symbolic vs. actual)
  • Veneration of Mary and the Saints
  • The church is the true church and earlierst church (historical proof or actual proof since some church haters say it’s a lie)
  • Confession (big one!)
  • Priesthood ( another big one!)
basically anything that differ’s us from protestant churches.

Any good sources?

I spent some time on here searching and I can continue to spend hours more but I want to see if there is one big bank of knowledge focused towards defending the faith somewhere like bible passages and stuff. Anyone know where I can find it?

The San Juan Catholic Seminar series for beginning apologetics is helpful without being overwhelming. This would be a good place to start. From reading your list I think the booklets cover most of your topics.

Scripture Catholic anyone?

So do you wanna thump the bible thumpers?😛

I love the history. When I ask people what are they “protesting”? You should see their faces, they haven’t a clue. Thats where the history comes in.

John Martignoni’s 'Bible Christian Society has dozens of downloadable mp3’s that you can get for free.
Take notes and you will be well on your way to answering many of the questions you asked to defend - using scripture.

I bought ‘The Bible Thumper’, there are two, one on Sacraments and the other on Authority. They answer all the questions you listed and you can slip them in your Bible and have them ready when you need them. www.thebiblethumper.com

It looks like everybody already recommended plenty of web sites, but if you would like a good book on the subject, I would recommend ‘Catholic and Christian’ by Alan Schreck, Servant Books, it is good for apologetics, and for other Christians who want to know more about the Catholic faith.
