When I pray to the Blessed Virgin Mary or any Saints, now that I’ve returned back to Catholicism these past couple month, I honestly don’t feel any connection in my prayers. Almost like vanity in my prayers. I don’t want to feel this way.

When I pray to Jesus, I feel his Almighty Presence all around me, and I feel a 100000% connection to our Father.

I don’t know if I feel like this because of a supernatural event that happened in my life back in October of 1994. Back then, I didn’t even know how to pray. One night as I was trying to pray to either the blessed Virgin Mary, the Saints, Jesus, I was so confused on who to pray to. Then, in my midst of praying, I literally heard Jesus voice, talking out loud to me and said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Nobody comes to the Father except through me!” Then Jesus told me not to worry how to pray because He hears my heart!

I was blown away be this experience and told my Catholic dad, who rebuked me saying I was smoking too much weed, which I had not, and was very sober. Later, I drifted with other churches till this year coming back to our True Catholic Church.

Any thoughts dear brothers and sisters?

If you are most comfortable praying to Jesus, we aren’t going to say that’s wrong! Just know that the saints are like elder brothers and sisters. They’ve reached adulthood and made the right choices and now enjoy extremely close friendship with God. They are there to look out for you, support you, and pray for you along the way. They see you as a younger sibling who’s still growing up to maturity. Mary is a special case, because she’s not only a fellow Christian in Heaven, she’s Jesus’ mother, and so is God’s mother. And as we have been raised as brothers and sisters in Christ, she’s our mother, too. She’s the mother of our king. Not in charge of things herself, but still very important. And like with the saints, we’re all part of a family looking out for each other.

Lol, I want to hang out with your dad.

Just remember, the Body of Christ is the Church, most notably the Communion of Saints. There is no either/or as the Body and Head are One. And, Our Lady is Mother of both the Head and the Body, so never fear her intercession.

My suggestion would be that you spend some additional time studying and learning about the communion of the saints and the Blessed Mother. It sounds like you might still have some reservations there. That is totally understandable.

You spent so much time as a Protestant nurturing your relationship with God, but ignoring the saints and Our Lady. I’m in the same boat. Relationships take time and attention. 🙂
