I’m having trouble praying and I think it’s a dry spell ic had since the Pandemic has hit…like I just can’t seem to focus and my prayers seem muddled and insincere at times. I believe it’s because I haven’t been to church since Covid outbreak…what can I do to jump start my prayer life?

This is normal don’t stress. Just push through even when you don’t “feel it.”

I try to mix up my prayer life sometimes.

I say the rosary and divine mercy Chaplet and those are great. But you can try doing something interactive!!! You can take some Bible verses and rewrite them to pertain to you.

Try setting up a prayer area. Light some candles, do breathing exercises before hand.

You can try praying in nature if you like that. To reconnect 🙂

Just giving you some ideas but don’t stress about this. Also tell God this!! “Dear God, please help me. I am feeling spiritual dryness”

Say an act of spiritual communion often as well. That could help!!!

You’re not abnormal and you’ll get through it

Don’t worry about how you sound when you pray. Don’t think that something is too small to bring up. Share whatever is on your heart at that moment. Perhaps you should start out with something small. Before you go to sleep every night, thank the Lord for blessing you with another day.

I have found the Hallow app to be very helpful. Try the free version!!

This is great advice. I agree that the OP needs to do something different. Different prayers, or a new devotion. A new novena, a different time of day or place to pray. Making a special place at home to pray is a nice idea.

Pray for people on the prayer intentions forum. They would be glad to get your prayers. 🙂

The main thing is your decision to work on your prayer life. If you are able to and have not been to Confession recently I would encourage that. If you are not able to get to Confession due to Covid-19 you can always do a sincere Act of Contrition with the intent to go to Confession as soon as possible. If you are able to and in a state of Grace receive Communion. If you can’t receive Communion make a spiritual Act of Communion. Pray the Rosary. Pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Reflect on the Daily Mass Readings. Ask For God’s Mercy, Be Merciful Towards Others, Completely Trust in Jesus.
