Hi all!!!

I’ve searched the threads already and haven’t found one that really addresses this issue I have. I’m calling it an issue because I have to throw a stag for my brother.

Other than going out for dinner, I have thought of:

Comedy club - Making special arrangements for a large party.

K of C hall - Buffet and drinks, maybe some gambling, but need more ideas for some kind of entertainment.

Two of my sons have gotten married in the last few months, and their brothers gave the stag parties. They gathered at my oldest son’s house and held a poker tournament. The cost was $20 per person and that included the poker chips, pizza, drinks and the groom’s admission. They all had a good time!

My husband was the best man for one of our friends last year, he organized the Stag, which was paintball followed by a dinner at a pub. Worked our great 🙂

Well I do not know what kind of area you are in - rural or city. Out here in the boonies 😃 our guys have parties a little more “au natural”. My hubby had all of his pals over for beer, bonfire, and huge pot of chili over the open fire. They just chatted, drank (responsibly) and played cards all night. Oh and they might have had a few rounds of “hillbilly olympics” - meaning farm boys being silly with who the heck knows how many triple-dog-bet you cant eat that-dares, lawnmower racing, tree bending, etc. Anyways they are all great guys who had a way better time without any strippers or other unwholesome activities.

Thanks for the good ideas, keep them coming. I have time, the wedding is scheduled for a year from now.

Mike,

Maybe find an old fashion barber shop in town and rent the place out for hair cuts, shaves using the straight edge razor, and cigars.

When my cousin was getting married, he made it clear he didn’t want a stripper party - and his fiancee made it clear she iddn’t want a stripper there either! 😛 So my male cousins, who were in charge of it, decided on a hashing party. They marked a trail and all went running along it, following the clues, and ended up at a cooler of beer. They all enjoyed it (athletic types) and nobody got drunk.

Check past threads again…this topic has been talked to death and I know several past threads offered alternatives to wild parties, Vegas, strippers and the like.

I know of one guy who just had all his friends together to watch
a game on televison and they had lots of food and some beer.
Nothing more than that, and it went well.

DH organized regular poker parties for the Men’s Club at former parish (they agreed ahead of time not to soak the pastor for more than he could afford), half the pot went to a fund for hosting parish events, and it was quite a substantial amount, they bought soda pop dispensers, an ice machine, institutional quality dishwasher and lots of other good stuff for the parish hall.

they also hosted a Cabaret Night, with barbershop quartets and men’s chorus, highly successful, the men served beer, wine and sodas, people bought a table (seating 8) and brought their own finger food, with a lot of sharing.

for our daughters’ weddings, bachelor parties were either golf outings or all day affairs at the local mini-golf/go-cart fun sports center for guys of all ages.
