Thanks in advance to anyone reading. I need to uninstall it as one of my children has become addicted. I have installed YT Kids so he can watch at least more age appropriate youtubbers but it’s a no go. I tried to delete the app, but only ended up deleting the shortcut! He easily found the app again. I need help from a programmer or enthusiast to be able to actually uninstall it. I’ve no knowledge of coding but can follow instructions. Please help!

The easiest and simplest solution is to buy a tv that doesn’t connect to the internet. Without more info on the TV it just isnt possible to give any help

Thanks Phil! My mom just bought this TV for the children, I’d feel bad if we returned it. And we’re quaranteened too right now. It’s a Hitachi AndroidTV, it has a Play Store and it comes with YouTube preloaded. I thought there might be a way to delete YT but I have no backgorund in computers so I don’t know how to go about it.

Are there parental time controls to limit the use of the children? Or is there a way to prevent them from not using YouTube (other than a technical solution)?

Is this a public TV that everyone in your house needs to watch, or is it a set that just one of your kids is misusing? If the latter, you could remove the TV from the kid’s room. You could also change your wi-fi password and not tell him what the new password is. That way he won’t be able to connect to the internet and will only be able to watch local TV stations.

Like the other poster suggested, check to see if there are any parental controls.

The TV might have a “time-of-day” operation where you could limit usage to a period like 4 PM - 7 PM each day (or to a period when you are in the home).

It’s going to require you to do a little work…

My 5 year old granddaughter is also addicted to you tube. I don’t like it.

Most smart TVs have parental controls. I’m sure you could lock the application behind a password of some kind.

most have separate cable, video, and internet (name removed by moderator)uts. Leave the others connected and remove the internet connection.

Or, get someone that understands your router, and block YouTube there (no, don’t look at me on that one!).
