I teach a class of confirmation students. They were confirmed in October. I am looking for a good resource to teach them about the Bible. Any good resources for early teens out there?

Well, when I was that age I wouldn’t have wanted to be taught using a super simplified source. Try something you would use for adults and just offer more explanation.

How much time do you have with them? An hour a week? How many weeks? I have several suggestions but more info would help others suggest more appropriate resources.

Hmm–that’s not very much time, and I’m guessing you have other topics you need to present to them as well. I think the most important thing for young people–all Catholics, in fact–is to know:
–What the Church teaches about Scripture, A quick overview of the Vatican II document Dei Verbum and the CCC would be helpful here.
—How it should be read, that is, for study within the context of the entire teaching of the Church (“the analogy of faith”) and for devotional purposes, the basics of Lectio Divina. The CCC can also be helpful on this.
—The differences between Catholic views of Scripture and that of other Christians, i.e. the errors of the “Sola Scriptura” approach to Scripture reading, including private interpretation over the teaching of the Church.
–and finally —the big picture of salvation so that when they read Scripture in the future, they will be able to see it in some kind of order and in context and it will make some sense to them.
Does that sound doable to you? I don’t know of one course of study that has all of these, but there is a small workbook published by San Juan Seminars that, with some background preparation on your part, would present them with the basics they need to get a balanced Catholic view of Scripture. Here it is:
