I have been contemplating taking a break from my life, and do some serious re-evaluation, for quite a while now. I used to think that going “ex-pat” was the answer, but the more I think about it, the more I feel nudged to take a more spiritual approach.
As a registered CNA, trained to work with MI/MR, dementia and physical disabilities, I wonder if there is a place where I can offer my skills in the spirit of contemplation and prayer, without being one who is discerning a vocation. The one place that keeps coming to mind is Calcutta, and the Missionaries of Charity.
Obviously this is not a decision to be taken lightly. I am putting some serious thought and prayer into this, and have tentatively broached the subject with my very non-Christian husband (it is worth noting that he was supportive of me going ex-pat to begin with). I haven’t yet talked to a priest because it seems like every time I try to make it to Church, something gets in my way (usually my erratic work schedule), but the intent is there…
Anyways, thanks for reading my really rambly post. I would very much appreciate any (name removed by moderator)ut and suggestions that folks may have.
