LOS ANGELES (RNS) Alongside programs like “Orange Is the New Black” and “House of Cards,” Netflix now offers users another type of content: Christian sermons. The online video streaming service added lectures by four popular Christian pastors in early December.
“I believe if Jesus were on planet Earth today in the flesh he’d be on Netflix,” said Ed Young, one of the pastors, in a phone interview.
Young spearheaded the effort to get Christian talks onto Netflix. He said he believes, like Jesus, he should find ways to appeal to the masses. It’s that attitude that makes the partnership with Netflix an unsurprising, if unprecedented, convergence of evangelical faith and popular media.

So Netflix gets rid of Doctor Who.
But Reverand Billy Bob and his Traveling Salvation Show are a go?
Glad I chose Hulu over Netflix.

I’ll be happy when I can get Bishop Robert Barron and Fr. Larry Richards on Netflix Streaming.

Oh wait, I can already get them free on YouTube.

I’ll stick with my Netflix Disc-only plan, which is vastly superior to the Streaming plans in terms of selection and scope of religious, devotional, and documentary offerings.

We should be pleased that Netflix is willing to include religious materials in its services.

if Jesus were anywhere doing programming it would be on EWTN…not anywhere near televanglists preaching a wealth gospel.

But its nice they are adding chrisitan content.

I do the streaming only plan because one time I returned a DVD by mail and it got lost…never got scanned as returned (and I think it really did get lost) Plus, if I want to really rent a DVD, I can do it by redbox.

Most of the worlds population are in war, being persecuted or starving!

We have lost reality 😉

The world now needs action, not more shows preaching to the converted.

Consider The cost of these shows, then consider those that starve.

A thought for all that needs no reply.

Regards Tony

I quite agree, but “televangelist” is a narrow category.

(Note: I’m just going by what the article said. It could be that the article is at fault, I.e. distorting what Netflix is doing by the word “televangelist”.)
