The program contains a lot of vulgarity, but I watched the three seasons of the program to learn something about Australia - geography, people, economy, etc. and I watched the truck drivers struggle in very desolate places with mechanical break downs, floods, weather, deadlines, etc. I figured the was as close to Australia as I’d ever get.

I think there’s another series on Netflix about Australia, too, but that detective show didn’t have the “reality” aspect that this program has.

I don’t know, I guess I started this topic to find out some first hand impressions about Australia.

We had to laugh as they were in New Zealand in the current season we are viewing in NZ the drama of the south island was adventures as it a lovely part of the country and yes caution on those roads is needed but it sounded like somethink from ice road truckers and over kill

I am Australian , what would you like to know

@greenfields

smurfie I absolutely love the South Island, its so beautiful, I have done a bit of work on the North West Coast. You guys have the 2 best glaciers on earth…

what is the name of the detective show?

Truckies are a breed apart. I was married to one. The outback itself is a breed apart. Imagine a place where you can be on one side of a ridge, and when you walk to the other side, you are totally and completely lost. And these things are not on any map.

we do get flood, fire, weather, there is a huge bushfire in QLD at the moment. The fire front, thats the wall of flames at the front of the fire is 12 metres high. Thats Australia

Truckies often have impossible deadlines to meet. That needs to be regulated a bit better.

We are known to swear a lot, at times…

I don’t think I’ve ever really been to the outback 🤔(Where’s the cutoff Rose?🙂 )
I live within easy reach of the sea ,it’s all open pastureland and cropping here…the closer I drive to the coast the more it looks like Ireland .
I had fun when I was young working on a horse trekking business ,that was also a cattle and sheep farming property ,in the bush up in NSW in the New England ranges. All the farmers in that area used horses for mustering as the country was steep.

i heard the other day that a car imported from auzzie had a passager aboard. was hiding in the dash board.

Are we exporting those red backed spiders again or trying to infest your little island with snakes.

i have spent a bit of time in the outback. I love it. hmm the cut off.
Probably as you pass those signs warning there is no food or water or petrol for hundreds of km, and make sure you got enough to last. Or maybe when you hit saltbush and red dirt, or camels and roos all over the road at dusk.

or maybe
Broken Hill Or the entrance to the Flinders Ranges.
