I’m disappointed that another venerated elder star has been implicated. Mr Cosby had spoken to the Black community some tough love, what a hypocrite, he is seemly just another rich guy who abused his power. And another person encouraging conservative values to be proven a phony.

Pretty scary to think about, isn’t it? Who knows what goes on in the human heart and soul? Fortunately, God does…and the day is coming when He’ll set everything right. Come, Lord Jesus, come!!

Only if one chooses to believe what has not been proven.
Or for that matter, no evidence.

I remain skeptical of these allegations.

Yes, very unfortunate. But it tells us to; live by example rather than any acclaim.

However, I don’t understand the population that seeks it’s “conservative values” from our celebrities and politicians? In the case of Mr. Cosby, he played a father on a popular sitcom. When did this make him an authority on family life? I am certain as the show grew in popularity, so did his time away from his real family. His message to the black community was one of chastising, it no wonder of his lack of support.

He has been a recording and television and movie star.
His alma mater has dropped him now from some title he held raising money I think.
I remember him from his first tv show I Spy.
It saddens me to hear these stories. I don’t know what to believe.
I had never heard of any earlier allegations so I am shocked at the number of women who have come forward.
Why is he not going after the comedian that started all this by bringing it up in his comedy routine?
I don’t know if he is being falsely accused, but this is probably beginning to hurt him financially as well as hurt his image. He still likes working and keeping busy at his age. Hope he will do the right thing.

Amen to that. There is still the question: “Why now??!” Though it’s not uncommon for sexual abuse / harassment victims to come forward a long time later.
Too much of this doesn’t look right on either side.

To the people who have stated “Bill Cosby has done so many good things with his life”, I agree, and I’m really agnostic so far about these allegations. However, just because someone has done many good things, does NOT mean they’re not capable of bad, evil acts as well.

Unfortunately, it is far from the case that only desperate or hardened “career” criminals committed crimes and evil acts. Many rich, famous people appear committed to charity and philanthropy, but then again one could argue that historically, men like Carnegie and Rockefeller likely caused much more misery from their business practices than they alleviated with their later charity work. Though I cannot read their hearts either and perhaps they meant to “atone” for their previous actions, perhaps they only engaged their “good” deeds to gain good PR.

And while Cosby isn’t a robber baron, and has a wholesome public image, that doesn’t say anything about his private life. He does indeed have at least one daughter from an extramarital affair that he admitted to. And I recall that coming up in the 1990s, when the media wasn’t nearly as cut-throat as it is now regarding spreading allegations about bad behavior.

I also recall that the Bill Cosby on TV actually was more wholesome than the Bill Cosby of stand-up (which is true for many other celebs, for example, Ellen D’s true sexuality was no secret among her fans from her stand-up days even though it was papered over for a while after she made it to TV).

A celebrity’s image is just that, an image. Mickey Mantle once had a wholesome public image too; people were shocked by the revelations in “Ball Four” regarding his drinking and womanizing, granted AFAIK no one ever accused him of rape, but he did essentially drink himself to death and was actually separated from his wife when he died.

None of this means Cosby is guilty of anything, but I don’t think his carefully crafted public image really provides any proof that he “isn’t that kind of man”. Even among non-celebrities, many times people with great public reputations turn out to be guilty of sexual sin or worse. (I’ve even read posts from CAF from posters who state they were victims of sexual abuse, but no one ever believed them due to the good reputations of the alleged perpetrators).

When I said Bill Cosby has done many good things I don’t believe I said
that means he is incapable of doing evil.
The point I was making is it is a shame that he has led such a productive life and these allegations have been made-whether they are true or not I don’t know. It is always sad to see anyone who you have had a good image of to be accused of these terrible acts.

I think what happens when a man with a lot of clout commits sexual crimes against women is that, the woman is afraid to speak up at the time. She thinks that people won’t believe her since everyone adulates the man. Maybe she got herself a little into a compromising situation and thinks people will hold that against her. Maybe he paid her off under the table.

Then time goes by, one woman finally speaks up, and that brings many others out of the woodwork, backing her up and telling their own stories.

The same happened with molestation stories, the priest scandals as example. Especially with same sex molestation, the embarrassment factor was huge, plus telling on someone who is admired by many.

I think I’ll wait until some actual legal proceedings shed some light on this before deciding. I don’t really watch BC anyway, so nothing is really changing. I’m totally fine with Netflix pulling stuff and if it was me in a similar situation and I was innocent, I wouldn’t like it, but I would understand.

I don’t think Bill Cosby did that, especially now that he has said that the woman’s lawyer was asking for some insane amount of money like $100 million dollars or something like that. With famous people, people will lie and do whatever it takes to bring someone down and ruin their character and life’s work. So I don’t know what to believe. I just find it strange that in all of those years, in 50 years not one single person said anything till now. I think he’s 77 yrs old now and they claim it started when he was in his 20’s, so in the span of 50 years not one single person said anything?? Not one person?? Now all of a sudden they are coming out of the woodwork. It’s crazy. I think someone would have said something before now if it was true. When it comes to money people will do anything, lie, cheat, whatever it takes. And now that so much time has gone by it can’t be proven, there’s no kind of DNA tests that can be done. So there’s no way to know for sure, it is just he said, she said. It’s like high school drama but on a larger scale with more at stake. One woman says I’ll say this and I will get all my friends to say the same thing. And of course their lie can’t be proven a lie because they’ll say it all happened 50 yrs ago where it’s too long ago to be proven one way or the other.

I can understand it with small children who are afraid and told not to tell and who don’t understand what’s going on, I can understand them waiting till they are adults before speaking about it, but grown women?? You mean to tell me in 50 years not one woman was brave enough to say something?? Not one woman till now?? He’s been married to his wife for 51 years, a famous person in Hollywood who’s marriage lasted for 51 years. If he was like that, that lifestyle would have caught up with him much sooner than now. His marriage would not have lasted if he was like that. It makes no sense.
