Not sure if this has been asked before but here goes. I feel like a lot of us myself included at times can feel a little self-righteous about not going to pornhub but Netflix what with it’s Too Hot to Handle and 365 days is showing fake sex (I think!) or sexual encounters that are very much like those on pornhub. If someone say watches a show with sexual scenes on Netflix and goes through the whole series, are they 1)actually addicted to porn as much as the person who goes to pornhub and 2) going to have the same issues as someone who struggles with pornography—lower dopamine, less easy arousal, etc. I guess basically is there something always worse about pornhub than Netflix. Sorry this is getting confusing!

Here’s an idea. A person should not view pornographic material on any platform.

Pornhub is just porn. If Netflix has objectionable content, it also has perfectly fine content.

I’m not sure why you think there might be any equivalence between the two. This is apples and oranges.

Those movies are off-limits to me but aside from this, that 365 seems to deal with kidnapping and came under heavy criticism from the singer Duffy because she experienced a kidnapping personally it sounds like:

So, that seems inordinately bad besides. I read a few articles on this. I’m not sure if netflix is still headlining it with some of the bad publicity that film has gotten.

I see your point about that. Matt Fradd was calling some Netflix shows soft porn and I think he may have even said porn on Netflix without putting soft in front. That’s what made me think of it.

Funny story. My 2.5 year old literally ordered a 19.99 porn video on my direct tv account. It was surprisingly easy. My wife came out of the bath to lesbian porn on our tv. Direct just blamed us for not having some code or guard. Actual sequence of button pushing this kid randomly did to actually land on, purchase and confirm the movie is mind boggling.

I’d call you a liar if my 2.5 year old hadn’t almost ordered something called “Horny Cheerleader Car Wash.”

Lol yeah I was at work and had a great alibi when my wife came out and saw the porn. Imagine if I was in the house trying to pawn it off on my toddler! I’m sure that’s what direct tv thought when I called to complain and have it removed.

Unfortunately in today’s society our media is infiltrated with sexual imagery. Its a shame. There are plenty of good shows out there to watch but one has to be on guard for sure

Thanks for the article. It is sad that didn’t take the show down. When I saw the show advertised , I was reminded of what I’ve heard about many porn videos: they show bondage etc. Netflix really pushes these kinds of films so it almost seems like they are trying to target that audience.

I’m on the fence but I may stop my Netflix subscription. This and their liberal agenda make it hard to stay with them and feel good about it.

I’ve been a Netflix subscriber since it was discs in the mail. Not once have I encountered pornography let alone has the Netflix algorithm “pushed it on me”.

The service carries documentaries from all points on the political spectrum.

Sometimes I really can’t tell if a thread is serious or meant in jest, or as a prank. This is one of those times.

I second this. Netflix is basically a library of media. Each item has a description and the viewer chooses what to see. Much better than cable where you can accidentally stumble upon sex scenes while surfing channels.

Now if you still want to watch some shows but feel like sticking it to the Man (studio), there are *ahem other ways of watching shows without an account 😉
“If you’re so moral you don’t want to support nudity or ‘leftist’ content, just do theft, bro. Then you can sleep like a baby. 😎

Not sure this logic really holds up somehow.

This seems like an odd comparison to make. Pornhub is a porn website. There is no other reason to go there than to see porn. Netflix has all kinds of stuff on it, but none of it is porn. It has some 18-rated films that contain nudity, but nothing on Netflix is porn as such. I’ve occasionally seen a few seconds of nudity on Gogglebox/Celebrity Gogglebox, but I wouldn’t call that porn either.

Watching TV shows and movies containing graphic content will effect you. Regardless.

Naturally we find pleasure in such scenes containing this graphic content. But, we most certainly need to avoid such interactions.

Most romances contain such scenes, I always skip through them. But, if I find myself watching a show that causes me to have to skip every 5 minutes, I should not be watching that show!

Netflix is not the same as PornHub, but used in an inappropriate way, it can be just as damaging to our souls and cause addiction.

My suggestion is stay away from those shows that contain bad content. Or, if you are a watching a movie that is otherwise appropriate and it contains a vulgar scene, skip through it! And, as I said, if you are needed to skip quite often, TURN IT OFF!
