Tell your bishops! Tell your Catholic hospital administrators! Get the word out!

I have been saying that the pro-life movement has been consistently outflanked by the pro-abortion/contraception “side” for several years. It’s happening right now, and here’s how it works…

The Research Consortium on Religious Healthcare Institutions is a new, somewhat concerning effort, given the organizations funding the work. Here’s a statement from a paper that’s currently in press:

“Given the immensity of the religious health care sector today which systematically restricts and prohibits care most integral to the lives of women of reproductive age, an academic focus on the topic is long overdue.”

The funding organizations include both “neutral” research organizations as well as advocacy groups, including:
-The David and Lucile Packard Foundation, which promotes population control and abortion, and
-The Mary Wohlford Foundation also funds the "National Network of Abortion Funds, which seeks public funding for abortion.

The “acknowledgements” section of the article thanks Brooke Tucker of the ACLU of Michigan, who is a staff attorney suing Trinity Health of Michigan to attempt to force the Catholic healthcare institution to perform abortions.

This research paper is authored by two largely pro-abortion/contraception researchers.

We can be certain that this type of research will be used to attempt to change either law or policy in future legislation. Catholic health care and bioethical institutions need to gear up to do this type of research and to be able to systematically critique it.

Here’s a HuffPost link with the article from the journal Contraception:
