Hi! I know that I am pretty new here, but for a while I fell down the rabbit hole of what is called the “New Apostolic Reformation”, as some their beliefs contradict Catholic doctrine. The following (non-Catholic) churches/ministries/companies claim to be of such:
  • Bethel Church, Redding, California
**Pastors: Bill and Beni Johnson, Kris Valotton
    **Where they

My take is that I’m glad you climbed back outta that rabbit hole. ☺️

I am certainly glad too. Although I never stepped foot inside an NAR church, I studied some of their theology, which led me into some internal confusion. It wasn’t until I came across this BuzzFeed article that exposed how Bethel has affected their home city of Redding, CA. Unfortunately, a LOT of the music from these churches (Bethel, Hillsong) have dominated the Contemporary Christian Music scene. In fact, many of their songs can be heard at places like Life Teen masses, in which I used to attend.
One of those songs? Reckless Love by Cory Ashbury, who is an artist signed to Bethel Music. In fact, last summer Life Teen tweeted this:

To which I replied:

I probably should have used the BuzzFeed articles as proof of the damage that they have done, since my argument was pretty weak.

There’s also the _National Catholic Church in the US, they are a big stay away. Their moral beliefs and practices almost entirely contradict the Catecism

The beliefs of the music label may be incompatible with the Catechism, but there is nothing wrong with the lyrics to the song “Reckless Love”. It reminds me of some pop music re-imagining of “The Hound of Heaven”. I find the music to be pretty insipid, but that’s just my personal taste.

You might do better to just tell people that the beliefs of the Bethel Church differ from Catholicism and be aware of that and don’t be misled, rather than going all Tipper Gore and telling them to stop listening, unless there is something contrary to Catholic belief in the actual song.
