New archbishops in Chicago and Madrid: Ratzingerians out, ‘inclusiveness’ in

In regards to sin,* when,** where, and how will the** direction** given by Our Blessed Lord in terms of sin **“Go **and Sin no more” be preached by any shepard without someone being **offended **:confused:? Will Sacred Scripture have to *be ignored when particular sins come up at Liturgy or Mass etc. so as not to exclude anyone or to make them feel uncomfortable??
*Pray *that the Church of Christ remains faithful. The Lord remained faithful to the Father until the end, our salvation did not come **cheap **and we need to *remain **faithful **to Him! At this point in time we need clear direction from ****Rome **in terms of the **teaching magisterium *and truth.

Bishop Cupich has been our bishop for a while now, and I have had the pleasure of meeting him. He really seems quite conservative to me. He is very much like Cardinal George, whom I also met when he was Archbishop of Portland. Both are friendly and easy to talk with, and neither did anything alarming.
 
I would not trust LifeSiteNews’ take on episcopal appointments.

Lets give the guy (and the Holy Spirit) a chance. I hate seeing how the first thing people want to do with a new bishop is force them into some political category in an attempt to predict where the wind will blow.

I understand that pro-life groups are wary with regards to what Cupich did in Spokane. But that’s a difference of opinion on approach, not doctrine. And I wouldn’t necessarily presume he’d do the same thing in Chicago. Bishops tend to approach an individual diocese as being individual. They don’t generally shoehorn in their own preferences without regard for the local landscape.

We should exercise restraint in judgment and docility to the Holy Spirit rather than knee-jerk hand-wringing over someone we perceive to be an enemy to Catholic teaching.

For the record, the Rocco Palmo quote is saying that the appointment is shocking because Archbp Cupich came from Spokane and was not already an Archbp. It’s not saying it’s shocking because he’s so liberal.
 
Papa Francis has every right as Holy Father to appoint bishops and archbishops that he feels will work best for the Church. Lifesite News is not exactly my source for reliable information regarding Church personnel…😉

You are correct, Pope Francis has every right as Holy Father to appoint Bishops and Archbishops…all popes have had this right…did anyone here state otherwise?
Let us pray that what we the sheep begin to receive from those chosen is based not so much on individual feelings and** thinking** as it is on solid **Magisterium Teaching **on what the **Catholic Church *teaches!! *
Clarity in my opinion is more than a little overdue!

Apart from the fact that I would trust LifeSiteNews,* I agree ***with **you! **
I think these things you mention will subside and there will be less confusion, division and uncertainty within the church when there is more clarity on church teaching. More Teaching Magisterium and much less personal revelation that does not line up with church teaching or an **approach **that makes it difficult to understand what is being stated.
Just the facts 🙂 !!

I mean, he also appointed the protégé of Cardinal Pell archbishop of Sydney, which is becoming or maybe is already one of the Anglosphere’s most important dioceses in terms of the New Evangelization. Chicago may be the United States’ largest diocese, but the historically significant Catholic cities like Boston, New York, and Chicago are quickly losing their dominance in the wider scope of American Catholicism. We focus on Chicago as though the American Church was somehow centered around that diocese, but it is notable that St. John Paul II chose Toronto, Denver, and Sydney for World Youth Day. He even called Denver a “center of the New Evangelization.”
