As of today, the Diocese of Richmond officially has a bishop! Bishop Barry Knestout was installed today! I hope to see him when he comes to my parish later this month! Have any of you ever been present for an installation or personally met your bishop?

I have met mine multiple times, primarily for altar serving for various things

While my parents were visiting me from back East, we went to Santa Fe to look around town. It was by chance on the same day that - after around 20 years - a new bishop was being installed in the Santa Fe/Albuquerque Diocese. We happened to be in old town by the cathedral and I noticed the crowd & police while walking by and went to see what was going on. I attended the installation while my parents perused the shops.

I felt a special blessing from God that day to get to see it 🙂

Both my Bishop and Bishop Emeritus frequently. They are very active in the Diocese.

Congrats on getting a new Bishop. I’ve never met my Bishop, but I have met the auxiliary Bishop once or twice.

As a member of the Diocese of Arlington, I wish you and your new bishop well!!

Yes, I was at the installation Mass for our new Bishop and have met him. I used to see our former Bishop regularly at Mass as the Cathedral was across the street from I worked.

I haven’t had any dealings with a Bishop for many years but I have fond memories of a couple of Bishops from decades ago who would do things at my high school and at the hospital where my dad spent a lot of time. One of them was an auxiliary Bishop who went on to become a full Bishop in another state and then died at much too young an age. He was a nice, kind man.

We just had a new bishop installed in my hometown diocese a few months back, but I was out of the state and could not go to the installation. I have a holy card of him though.

Congratulations on your new Bishop!

Bishop Knestout will be visiting the school I teach at in about 2 weeks, looking forward to it…
