**Detroit, MI (LifeNews.com) – **Pro-life advocates are still concerned that a new test that allows for earlier testing of Down syndrome will lead to more abortions of unborn babies with the disability. But, some parents of Down syndrome children say parents who find out should keep and love their children. I voted and here was my comment. On the upside, when I voted only 58% agreed, so maybe we are gaining ground?

Oh my! Some of these comments about children with disabilities are incredibly hurtful. I had a daughter who was mentally retarded. She died at age 10 from complications of epilepsy. In her 10 years she inspired many people. Her teachers, many of whom have told me that it was her who encouraged them to continue when they doubted their work; her peers two young girls who now volunteer their time at children’s hospitals because of having met her and yes, her Mom and Dad who have since adopted a son and recognize that each day is a gift. She also donated her heart, lungs and liver at her death to save the lives of 3 other children. So, I guess the question that I would have for people like reality check is whose life have you touched in a positive way? I know that in 10 short years, my mentally retarded daughter left a positive mark in this world. Will you be able to say the same? I will pray for you that you can.
