Not sure this is where I need to post this.

A close friend has lost a lot of weight. I have questioned her a lot about this - since her eating habits had not changed. I tried to be nothing other than a friend who was present to her.

She finally admitted to her eating habits. She says she only eats because she wants the taste. So she puts food in her mouth to “taste” it then spits it out for her dog to eat.

Has anyone heard of this eating disorder?**

Doesn’t sound like anything new to me - just another anorexic finding a way to not eat. She needs help though.

ITA. This is very serious. My neighbor’s daughter almost died of anorexia a few years ago. Encourage her to get help, because eating disorders are fatal disorders if left untreated.

And they are not good for the dog either! 😛

Seriously, she needs help.

Actually, this is not new. And it’s a recognized eating disorder. Please encourage to seek help. ASAP!!! I will pray for her…:gopray2:

This is NOT anorexia. I have witnessed many models struggle with anorexia and some were even afraid of drinking a certain amount of water for fear of gaining extra water weight, so someone who is anorexic would never dream of even ‘tasting’ food in this way because you would still consume some calories, even if its a very small amount.

That being said, your friend very much has an eating disorder. I knew a girl who would do this but spit the food into her napkin. Its quite sad and if she does not get help it could lead to something much worse. Fast weight loss never results into anything good in the long run.

She needs love along with help for the eating disorder. Keep loving her. She needs someone like you in her life.

it is a recognized disorder, closer to bulemia, but it has its own name. If she is a minor you must tell her parents right away she is in danger of grave complications.

**This person is an adult.

Thank you everyone for your feedback. Please pray for her. **

Yes I have struggled with Bulimia and Anorexia for several years and I use to do this as well, it’s a way to taste without consuming fat/calories. I don’t do it often, but I have heard some people don’t eat and always chew and spit out their food, it is an actual eating disorder. Is your friend real skinny?
