New edition of the Liturgy of the Hours for Africa

[peregrinus_sg]

For those interested, a new edition of the Liturgy of the Hours has been published for Africa. It uses the Revised Grail Psalter, NAB as well as existing ICEL texts. For the 1st time, the 3-set of antiphons for the Benedictus and Magnifcat for Sundays are available in English, as well as new memorials added to the Roman calendar.

And the good news is, the full 4-volume set is only estimated to cost $100.

See here if interested.

Interesting. I wasn’t previously aware that the NAB was used for liturgy outside of the US and the Philippines.

The new edition of the Divine Office began four years ago and was completed in 2008. It is being launched in the context of the Second Special Assembly for Africa of the Synod of Bishops, which is going on through Oct. 25.

The Congregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments encouraged the project and asked the Kenyan episcopal conference to approve the new liturgical texts and propose them to the Vatican for the “confirmatio.”

There are a number of revisions in the new edition: Sunday Lauds and Vespers have been enriched by new antiphons for the “Benedictus” and “Magnificat.” …

Yes, but the products at their stores are different for different countries. I don’t think they interchange their materials., for various reasons, including copyright
