There was something on one of the History-type channels about this. I doubt any but the most hard-core feminists will care about this movie.

It’s a fable. Without all the hype given to the Da Vinci Code book, I highly doubt anyone will go to see it except the artsy crowd, who are generally an ignorant group when it comes to Church history.
Judging by how people viewed the Da Vinci Code I hope that those who are ignorant on the Church history don’t take this film literally.

Even though Pope Joan is a fable it is going to be pushed as “fact”, a truth hidden by the male dominated RCC.
Included in the historical fiction novel titled “Pope Joan” is an interview with the author Donna Cross. She makes it clear that she believes that there is enough evidence the there was a “pope” Joan.
If the media blow this up Anti-Catholics/religious and conspiracyHolyBloodHolyGrailLeonardoCodesacredfeminine beleivers are going to run with this one, especially if the media blows this up.
Woo Hoo!

The biggest problem with Pope Joan is that certain people use her story to attack the Church. However, they completely miss the purpose behind the story. Yes, she dupes church leaders and makes them look pretty bad, but she doesn’t fool God. Once she reaches the high office, God exposes her femininity in a public way. If anything, the moral of the story is that no matter how foolish the human authority of the Church might become, God will protect His bride. Of course any attempt to find a historical Pope Joan is going to fall flat. There is less proof of her existence than there is for Herakles or Huckleberry Finn.
