Why a Media forum?

Forum members have been asking for something like this for several months now. Major themes in these requests included movie reviews, book clubs, and Catholic commentary on various types of media. So we decided to build this experimental forum to try out the idea(s).

Currently this forum contains threads on both secular and religious media that have been pulled from other forums. There are more threads that could be moved into this forum, but that will take some time. For now I moved only the easily-screened threads to provide a critical mass of topics.

Organizationally, it’s possible to further divide topics into individual sub-forums. For example, by media type (movies, books, etc.) or by content (Catholic, non-Catholic Christian, Secular). But we are holding off on that for now, until we see what the forum activity looks like.

The title for this forum is still open. If you have a recommendation, we’d love to hear it. Shall it be Media or Popular Media or Mass Media or Media & Culture or … you name it.

Or maybe you dislike the idea altogether. Let us know. We want to make the forums useful to you.

Enjoy,

I like the idea of a forum for various kinds of media.

I agree that having sub-forums for specific kinds of media (e.g., books) would be helpful.

Thanks for setting this up!

Wow!!! :clapping:
I am truly impressed by the speed with which you responded to the suggestion of creating this new Forum!!! :bowdown2:

I hope it turns out to be very useful to all members.:bounce:

Thanks again!!!

I, too, think it’s a great idea. I’ve tried unsuccessfully to garner some feedback on a new advertising apostolate I’ve recently started that focuses on helping Catholics spread the Good News to the masses, but wasn’t sure at which forum to post (most ended up in the Water Cooler). Is it possible to located my posts regarding advertising and the Catholic Church and moving them to this location?

Thanks!

God bless,

Dino.

First of all, thanx for the new forum!

I do think sub-fora would be good; say, Books, Movies & Television – maybe Cyberspace as well.
At the very leat we need a separate Books forum.
