New "Full Size" RSVCE coming

I just got my new “compact” RSVCE from Scepter,to add to my “collection” of Bibles ,and its beautiful!

After enjoying it for a while I went on a Quest to find a “Full Size” RSVCE in leather (I have the “Hard Back” Ignatious RSVCE) but discovered there does’nt seem to be one available bound in black leather (Scepter and Oxford did have one that has the “Apocrypha” and is discontinued)

After groping around long enough on the web ,Lo and behold I discovered that Oxford (that published my new beautiful compact RSVCE along with Scepter) is coming out with a new RSVCE that, from what I can tell from the discription, appears to be the same as the new “Compact” one that just came out ,only Full Size! WOW…Can’t Wait!!..

Yes the same. I contacted the Oxford site and they are accepting pre-publication orders.

Uh? I don’t understand why anyone would want / need more than 1 bible. Aren’t they all basically the same, except slightly different translations? Wouldn’t you just pick a translation you like and stick with that bible? (Or do what I do, which is to use whatever bible is around or whatever I can find on the internet).

Btw, I know RSV stands for Revised Standard Version, but what is the CE for?

No translation is perfect. I own several Bibles so that I get the whole picture when doing an indepth study of a topic. For casual reading finding a Bible that is to your taste and reading it is important. The CE (Catholic Edition) is because the original RSV is a protestant translation. It was then revised slightly to put more of a Catholic emphasis in the work.

Certain passages seem to vary,thats why I like to compare different “versions” in my reading of Sacred Scripture.

A prime example is Luke 1:28

What I find is important to remember is that the translations are trying to put into words for understanding for the people of the time, and not betraying the Word of God- i like the New Jerusalem, but do use others to clarify in my mind. Whet i would like to see is a ‘study bible’ in the manner of the protestant bible, say the thomson chain reference- i do miss that from my protestant days- but would like it referring to the catechism, you know?
