Hi to all.

This is the first thing I have made a thread. I am 25 years old with three children. Next Easter my children and I will be batized into the catholic faith. ( my husband does not go to church with me). I just want to ask for your prayers. I was raised Mormon so my mom is not dealing with me and my family becoming catholic.

thank you all
Crystal

Hello and welcome to the forums and the Faith!

I am a convert myself and I am 24…I also have friends (24, 27, 29) who converted from Mormonism as well.

Prayers sent!

I am a teacher/team member in our parish’s RCIA program so I see this alot. While Lutheran or Episcopal family members often have an easier time with your conversion, it can be especially troublesome for family members who are Fundamentalist or LDS because of the very distinct and significant theological differences.

You need to be sure to let your Priest and RCIA lay members and people in your parish of this family division as a result of your faith decision. They will all have insight on how you might mend fence with your family or at least deal with this personally. Being cut off from family is a severe cross to bear for your faith. But take comfort that it is significantly less than the martyrs were asked to bear and rest assured that God wouldn’t have called you and your family home if he didn’t love you and if he didn’t know you could handle it with his Grace. And hopefully and with the Grace of God, you might be the first in a long line of conversions!

I was not raised in any church, but at the age of 19, I was baptised Mormon. Now I am married with 3 boys & will be starting RCIA classes this month. It was nice to see someone else out there with sort of the same thing going on. I’ll pray for you & your family. I know it must be difficult with your side of the family upset about your conversion. I’ll pray for you & them to be at peace with each other.
