Does anyone know anything about the New Interpreters Bible? Is it a Catholic study bible?

“The New Interpreter’s Bible” (12 volumes) is successor to “The Interpreter’s Bible” (also, 12 volumes). Both of these are Protestant works.

I think there are a few professors, from Roman Catholic Universities, who have written articles for the NIB.

I hope this helps …

No, it is not. I have the older set, not the newer set. I like the newer set better, though. It can be useful if you have nothing else and you want to look up discussion on Greek words, etc. for a passage. The older one I have has two sections running with the scripture. It has one that is more of a homily/sermon help, perhaps you could call that part the devotional part, and it has the part that discusses the meaning of the translation. I read the latter part only.

It also has introductory articles and it has a dictionary to go with it. The older one suffers from some spottiness, just like the Anchor Bible does, as each article is done by a different scholar.

If I could get the newer one for a cheap price, I’d snap it up, because I have read a few articles from it and found them informative.
