Does anyone else see this as a bonehead idea with Air America just filing for bankruptcy
New Liberal Radio Network Formed

Air America has filed for bankruptcy, but another liberal radio network appears poised to see if the concept can work if done with others in charge.

Nova M Radio, Inc. based in Phoenix, Arizona officially announced the formation of its new progressive talk radio network, which will feature former Air America host Mike Malloy as one of its on-air personalities. The network is scheduled to debut October 30, just prior to the November elections.

I dunno… I never heard Air America, but one of the criticisms I read in the wake of its bankruptcy is that it was too much like a lecture hall and not enough like a locker room. I don’t know how entertaining Air America was, but its possible that this new company has a different market strategy.

It was pretty awful.

I went to a live airing of the Al Franken show on Air America in 2005, because it was at my school. I’d never heard of the radio station prior to that day, but I went out of curiosity. There was some good discussion, but it was laced with too much vitriol, which is something I don’t really have much patience for, from either the left, or the right. Most of the stuff I heard from Air America afterward was similar.

Oh yeah, and before the show started, I was walking ahead of Al Franken towards the building. I held the door open for him, and he didn’t say, “thank you.” Not that it ultimately matters, but I just thought it was interesting.

I don’t know if it was Mike Malloy on the former Air Am. radio show at night that used vulgar language and casually threw our Lords name around. 2 minutes of listening was too much.

It depends on their business plan, but it sounds like another bad idea. Air America was (is) truly horrible and the people running it seem to have zero business sense. Franken is possibly the most unfunny “comedian” I have ever seen. Except for maybe Bill Maher or Andrew Dice Clay. At least Clay didn’t think he was the smartest man in the country as do Franken and Maher.

Liberals think the problem is the way they present their message when the reality is the problem is the message they present.

I agree that Clay and Franken aren’t funny, but Maher is hilarious and smart. No doubt he is smug, and I don’t always agree with his point of view, but he is very funny.

Actually, it means “house of meat”.
You probably speak only the Mexican dialect. In South America, it means “the best of the best”.

Speaking of Air America, when listening to those shows I am often reminded of a saying in Spanish by the great Rudy Canoza, “Su nalgas es el más grande en el mundo” which means in English, “Listen to the people, for they will lead you onward.”

Or in the case of Air America “Listen to us and we will lead you over the cliff”

Actually, I’m just kidding. “Casa de carne” does indeed mean “house of meat”. And the second one means “Your buttocks are the largest in the world”…or something close to that. ( I don’t speak spanish, or at least not much of it.)

Rudy Canoza is a character on the Phil Hendrie show who habitually mangles spanish and tries to get out of it by saying he’s from Argentina. So when a Phil Hendrie fan says something is the “casa de carne” he or she means something is “the best of the best” even though the real translation is not even close to that.:whacky: :yup:

The big mistake Air America made is that it starts with the premise that the hugely successful conservative radio “movement” is manufactured, and they think to themselves—“Hmm…Let’s make our own!” Like a car manufacturer copying a popular model and selling it’s version of it.

Conservative talk radio is not one THING. It’s a wide variety of shows (read: hosts) which sprung up largely on their own and became successful by connecting to people who listen to the radio and drawing many, many listeners which makes radio stations lots of money.

Many liberals are convinced that conservative talk radio’s success is due to a combination of Republican conspiracy and low intelligence. But it’s much, much simpler than that and it’s so close to their faces that they can’t see it: It’s a simple combination of capitalism and common sense.

The reason Air America is bankrupt and will soon go bye-bye is because it violates the rules of those two C’s:
Capitalism—They poured money into buying entire programming days and stations and bought their air time like a liberal infomercial. No conservative radio show did that. Successful conservative shows are just that–one show–that started somewhere and became popular. More popularity meant syndication.
Common sense—Successful talk radio shows are shows that a) entertain and b) pass the common sense test. What is basically going on when people listen to talk radio is a “conversation”. The listener is having a conversation in his head with the host and the various callers. Oftentimes, prepackaged, liberal radio produces a spike in the “bull____ meter” in the average person’s head. Who wants to ride in their car with a passenger who spouts stupid stuff the entire ride?

I’ll say one thing, though—I do think Rush has become a shill for the Republican party.

Disregard what I said about Phil Hendrie. I just found out his show is gone.😦
