Not really, actually. 1970s-era ICEL just had different priorities and made different choices than we do now in the wake of Liturgiam Authenticam.

We have not yet decided what setting to use, but I am considering one of the revisions for ease of transition.

At the conferences our diocese held for musicians it was suggested that perhaps this is not a good idea at first because people are so used to the settings that it will be difficult for them to switch to the newer version, they will keep falling back.

I am not particularly fond of the settings I have heard so far but that could be because they sound kind of odd. There is a setting I like that is based on “Where Charity and Love Prevail” which I kind of liked (I forget the composer). The tune is familiar enough that people can sing it without much trouble. I do like the one that won at the NPM convention last summer but I don’t know if it will be available through the major publishing houses missalettes and hymnals because it published through a new smaller publishing house. If the people don’t have the text it would make it more difficult to use.

We, I think, might just use the ICEL chants at least for the Eucharistic acclamations, Lamb of God, etc. just until people get used to the words. Not sure what we will do with the Gloria, but as long as it is a good refrain the cantor or choir can do the rest.

I have heard this and am not too convinced. This is just a matter of gut feeling of what one thinks is easiest. I have heard both suggested as the easiest transition.

I will look into that. I would love to shuffle the decision on to the diocese.
