I have a question though

Did Noah really wanted to kill his grandchildren as was shown in the movie and God wanted him to do so?
No.

Genesis chapter 6 is the account.

Nor were the fallen angels good guys who got kicked out of heaven for being too compasionate.
They were rebels who came to earth to have sex with women. Their offspring were a Satanic attempt to take over the world. It was so bad that is why God brought the flood.

So the movie cunningly promotes the opposite of what the Bible says. it paints God as the bad guy and the demons as right. 😦

Satanic propoganda,

Satanic propoganda,
You need to listen to Fr. Robert Barron, his connection is on a previous post, he gives an excellent theological view of the movie and it does not make God bad and evil good.

Say it ain’t so Joe - New Noah Movie.

Is it true that the new movie Noah, completely left out any reference to God?

What in the world is happing here? How can one tell the story of Noah without God?

What do you think about this?
I thought it was a good movie, if a bit slow in spots and too long.

It’s very helpful (but not required) to be familiar with the Book of Enoch and the flood story from the Epic of Gilgamesh prior to seeing it.

It is banned in the neighboring countries, in particular Malay and Indonesia. So was the Ten Commandments those years ago.

Satanic propoganda,
I was kind of hurt when Noah was trying to kill the babies saying God asked him to do so and showing him as a cruel person. Just my view though 🙂

Think of is as when God asked Abraham to kill his son Isaac, a test of faith. More so it is representing Noah understanding of God’s wish, that he and his family would be the end of humanity because of our corrupt and fallen nature.

Yeah. I was questioning myself while watching the movie saying to myself this is not what i read.
The director used other ancient sources other that the bible. It is also in line with the story telling of the Hebrews who would start with the basics of a story and expand upon it. Fr. Robert Barron expounds on this in his review.

Just so you know the director of the Noah film is atheist.

Explains a lot.

The movie is blasphemous as it appears to have fallen angels ( Watchers ) assisting Noah in building the arc…
…These fallen angels look like giant blobs of popcorn covered with mud!
…Past that it seemed like some type of stunt to get people to stop drilling for oil?
…Not worth the time to watch free on t.v. and absolutely not worth the cost of a movie ticket.

The movie sucked.

It’s too bad because I’m a huge fan of Hopkins & Crowe.

Didn’t much of the storyline come from the Book of Enoch?

I have to say I loved the film. I hadn’t intended to see it, but I was at lose ends one evening and gave it a try. I left the cinema with a sense of the grandure of creation and awe of God.
This film was a blessing to me.

But I love storytelling and am not offended when someone takes a traditional story and spins it. I love that humans are so creative and enjoy seein what others can make of a basic storyline. I think they did a wonderful job. I’m glad I was given the extra time that day and decided to take a chance.

I remember something about lucifer spinning a slightly different reason for God not wanting Adam and Eve to eat fruit from a particular tree. That seems like the sort of “artistic license” that was taken in the movie Noah, at least to me it does.

I saw the movie last night, and while I do not agree with some of the liberties taken with the story, there is no question that all of the characters in the movie believe in a creator and that all things were created by Him. Knowing and doing the will of the Creator is the most important thing in Noah’s life.

How many Hollywood productions can you say any of that about?

What is your view about fallen angels assisting Noah in the construction of the Ark?
…Does this pass the most basic understanding of Scripture in your view?
…Or is it just a harmless artistic liberty that we shouldn’t concern ourselves with?

I seen it and thought it was a very good movie. It didn’t stick completely to the scripture but seemed to portray the basic story well. I will buy it on dvd when it comes out.

  1. Genesis 6:4 There were **giants **in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
  2. Look up the term “midrash”.
  3. Watch this review from Fr. Barron:
