which religion do you think is the true faith (apart from catholicsm)

The correct answer is Judaism, as they are the ancestors of Catholicism. The Jews got their religion directly from God, as did we. All of the others listed are corruptions of Catholicism.

What do you mean? only the Catholic Faith is the true faith! To think otherwise is to be guilty of heterodoxy…

Unless of course you count the Temple-tradition Judaism for times before Christ’s…

Other than the aforementioned Judaic references from a historical standpoint I would have to say that Eastern Orthodox religions most closely resemble Catholicism as they also posess (as far as I am aware) the true presence of Christ in the Eucharist and Apostolic Succession. Catholicism is still the only faith which has the fullness of truth.

Agreed.

The only church that will stand in the end,and in the next world,is the New Church.

The seond coming was through Swedenborg. The second coming is not in person. The Lord has come as the Word in the spiritual sense. That’s why Swedenborg was commanded by the Lord to write.

Huh? What the heck is this New Church Swedenborg stuff?

I vote Eastern Orthodox is closest to the true faith. Of course you know that I believe Catholicism is the true faith.

I would have to say the Orthadox Churches, then Church of England followed by the other protestants.

I too was confused so I did a Google search and came up with the following site. Looks like they are just another protestant church trying to find their way home(The Catholic Church). I did not spend a lot of time at their site but did see some real weird stuff. i.e. the second coming has already happened.

Ditto that for me.

I also vote for the Eastern Orthodox Churches, but would have to include the Society of St. Pius the Tenth(SSPX) in that vote as well. Even though there is alot of dispute whether or not the SSPX are in union with Rome, I will consider them in schism until I hear definitive word from legitimate Church authorities at the Vatican.

Its not often that the Eastern Orthodox and SSPX are mentioned in the same breath, many of the same distinctions do apply, though the later accepts virtually all of the doctorines of the true faith. The SSPX primarily have issues with the authority of the last Ecumenical Council(Vatican II), the 1969 General Instruction of the Roman Missal(GIRM) and every other Church document that has been issued since.

Same here. 👍

****, I voted Judaism, but Orthodox is clearly closer. I guess I’m so used to seeing Orthodox as being “99.9% Catholic” that it didn’t even occur to me to put them as a “seperate faith”. They’re more of a social/political division than a religious one in my mind. In almost every way I consider them to be the same Church, even if they don’t realize it 😉

Orthodox Judaism is the closest to the truth other than the Church insofar as it upholds the most ancient traditions and expectations of the Messiah. The Chasidim are espescially close to the true faith, IMO, and their devotion to the “yet-to-come” Messiah rivals many Christians’. Ancient Temple Judaism WAS the True Faith, IMO; the Church IS the New Temple, and there is absolutely no seperation between the “different” religions.

Anybody know why Orthodox was not included in the list? After all, John Paul says it is other lung. Maybe not 99.9%, but far closer than anyone else.

Why wasn’t Eastern Orthodoxy included? It should have been included. After all, it is, doctrinally speaking the closest to the Catholic Church since it is recognized as having valid sacraments and apostolic succession. We can even say it is closer to Catholicism than Judaism itself.

Gerry 🙂
