Just read this in our Church Bulletin from our priests:
I will be attending a workshop late on Tuesday **to learn chants **for the new Roman Missal that will be implemented throughout the English speaking world this coming Advent. I think the learning curve for the chants will be a little steeper for the old pastor than the young associate!

I’m too am excited for the new Roman missal! Haven’t seen anything in our bulletin but saw it mentioned on our Archdiocese website! 🙂
Edit: hehe whoops! :o I just pulled up past Sunday’s bulletin, which I do have but must have missed this part, it’s mentioned in there!
A message from the Archbishop:
HAVE YOU HEARD OF THE NEW ROMAN MISSAL?

The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops has received final recognitio (approval) for the Revised Roman Missal. The date to begin using the Roman Missal is November 27, 2011, the First Sunday of Advent. The implementation of this new edition of the Roman Missal will provide the Canadian Church an opportunity to deepen our understanding of the Sacred Liturgy. Workshops and materials to help with the implementation will be forthcoming in the near future.** Please note: In next week’s bulletin we will be answering 3 of the most commonly asked questions pertaining to the Revised Roman Missal.**

We have big preparations: talks and workshops over the summer. The archbishop has written a letter explaining that this is not optional and that all churches must use the new translation. Exciting!!
 
I taped the program “A New Translation for a New Roman Missal” on EWTN this week (DISH Channel 261) and began watching it this morning.

If reairs Friday June 3 and on Saturday June 4th.

I checked on EWTN youTube and unfortuneatley I don’t see it available there.
 
Our diocese has been holding chant workshops for choirs and for priests. Unfortunatly few priests attended so we might not be hearing too much chant from them.

I figure if they’re not chanting now there is no magic in the new translation that is likely to change their behaviour. Those who are chanting now are likely to want to continue so they’ll take advantage of the workshops being offered.
 
I looked at my father’s missal from his First Communion in the 1950’s, and the order of the Mass has Latin on one page, with the English translation on the opposite page. Some of the responses of the people are very similar to the new ones we will use. I’ve studied bits of Latin, and noticed that the translation for what we have to say is much better.

I have the day off work, so I may watch that ETWN program about the Roman Missal, thank you to a past poster about mentioning it.
 
our summer study days for DREs this week focuses on the changes, with presenters as those who have published some of the best materials for educating parishioners, catechists, and children. Yesterday was liturgy of the Word, today Liturgy of the Eucharist, tomorrow music. We already do basic chant in this parish hope that expands as we get proficient people to lead and teach.
 
I just remembered that we’ll start using it on my birthday!!! A lovely birthday present indeed.👍😃
 
haha… I’m so excited about the new Missal, I was messin’ up parts of the creed at Mass tonight:o
