First point: There is no evidence so far that there was something before the big bang. However, we (I have a master of science in physics) don’t know enough about the big bang itself to rule out that anything was or was not before the big bang. It is a scientific mystery. There have been many hypothesis how there could have been something before the universe, but so far non of them has ever been successfully tested to be true(most of them cannot be tested at all). This means this hypothesis are pure speculations.
So all that scientists say that there are possible alternative explanations…
