Yes I know…how long will this last? I’m good at keeping New Years resolution, last year I quit caffeine, no Coke, no coffee etc. Still haven’t touched it. :extrahappy::harp::choocho:

I need a good starter book. Can anyone please recommend one. Not too heavy please. My mind is overloaded at the moment.

101 for Eastern Catholicism is where I’m at. 😃

Well, when we were examined by the Eastern Catholic priest, we were able to answer all the questions regarding the faith and church history. It’s the same. The differences are nuances. We were more familiar with the Byzantine liturgies and customs though we were finally accepted by the Maronites, they have a different Liturgy and slightly different customs, but the same root faith. Major reason I am not Orthodox is that I would not turn my back on the papacy. St. Pope John Paul II was a major reason for my existence. Papa Francis called me back.

I still attend an Orthodox vespers service on Saturday. I can be Orthodox in faith and Catholic in practice 😃

I don’t mean Eastern Orthodox, I’m looking at understanding Eastern Catholicism more. 🙂
The theology of the Eastern Catholic Churches is mostly the same as that of the Eastern Orthodox Churches. So, in order to fully understand Eastern Catholicism, one has to study Eastern Christianity, which includes Eastern Orthodoxy. And not only that, Eastern Christianity also includes the Oriental Orthodox Churches and their heroic and missionary Christian Faith should not be neglected.

If I may add, a work that should provide a good overview of Eastern Christianity is Fr. Aidan Nichols, OP, “Rome and the Eastern Churches”: amazon.com/gp/product/1586172824?keywords=Rome%20and%20the%20Eastern%20Churches&qid=1451677200&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1

Thank you Augustine. Will check that book out. Have a couple of good starting points now.

I salute you. I gave up CAF one Lent, and it definitely wasn’t easy for me.:o
Giving up things for Great Lent has never worked well for me, so this year I resolved to spend more time in prayer. That being said, one does not need to wait for the Great Fast to start in order to do this.
