New York Appeals Court Rules Against Gay “Marriage”

ALBANY, New York, February 17, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) – New York’s marriage law is constitutional, a five-judge panel decided at a mid-level appeals court yesterday.

The ruling addressed three separate cases involving gay couples that were refused marriage licenses. The couples argue the state’s definition of marriage as being only between a man and a woman violates the state Constitution’s equality, privacy and legal access provisions.

WHile the tone of the message may be off…sometimes its hard to tell context in this medium…I’m not so sure that would be a bad thing. Then people with SSA could get some real help instead of affirmation.

I guess people with this mysterious “SSA disease” can get some help. Please refer me to what “SSA” in the psychiatric literature. I can’t seem to find it.

Meanwhile, if someone is under psychiatric care with this “SSA disease,” you might be able to get access to his property and bank accounts. Sometime, God and $ just happen to intersect. And the Lord helps those who help themselves…to?

It’s a cross to carry. I have been through therapy and prayer. While I am not driven to have sex with anyone the SSA is still there. I do not need to be helped, thank you. I am quite at peace.

Actually, that was tried in Iowa back in the 1950’s. It didn’t work.

SSA may be a disorder but is not sinful itself. Therefore I see no need for required change, only optional. As far as the behavior goes, that is unhealthy and one should get treatment to stop that.

I don’t think I’ve ever said that homosexuality in and of itself is sinful - it’s the active participation in the act as per the Church’s teaching.

My point was that those with SSA won’t get proper treatment for the “unhealthy” behavior as most medical professionals today don’t recognize the behaviors as problematic.

I don’t think though that we should gloss over the fact that active homosexuality is a grave offense to Our Lord, and we should try to change the culture to one towards recognition of true human dignity as preached by the Catholic Church.

Why don’t psychologists and psychiatrists define using artifical birth control as a disordered behavior?. And why don’t they characterize homosexuality as a disordered behaviors?. Both behaviors are against Catholic teachings. But in the opinion of both professions, there is no research defining these behaviors as clinically diseased. Sorry. Mental health research does not depend on a particular faith’s teachings.

So “SSA” is a made up term from folks who do not like homosexuals. Ok.

SSA is a term for those who do not necessarily support the gay agenda but find in themselves something different. It is not of their own choosing. However behaving on it is a choice and cannot be condoned. I agree that SSA does not need to stand out as a disorder anymore than finding blondes more attractive than brunettes.

I’m not going to debate SSA on this thread. But this is an ignorant statement. I have never said I don’t like homosexuals. Homosexuality? Yes, but not homosexuals. I like them so much I am willing to risk yours and others contempt to proclaim truth. Disagree? So what. I could care less, that’s life. But you shouldn’t put hate in my heart where there is none.
