Hello everyone. I am not sure where to post this but wanted to jump in. I am new to Catholicism in the sense that I’m a protestant who has attended mass with a friend for the past year or so. My faith is strong, but i have lots of questions still. Plus, i am going through a bit of a crisis that has me searching for God in a way that i haven’t in awhile. So here i am looking for answers. Pray for me please.

Welcome to our forum, Stacy!
Are you considering taking RCIA classes to learn more about our faith? You can speak to a priest at your local parish about them. They typically start in September each year and run until the Easter Vigil. That is when people can enter the church if they desire, but there is no obligation. I went through RCIA three years ago and was a Protestant before that. I had bounced around denominations over the years, but finally came home at age 60. God Bless!

Welcome to CAF @Pabelle2020. Searching is good. There is a wide variety of views and attitudes in the membership. I hope you will feel free to ask anything that’s on your mind.

I will say a prayer for you. There is also a section under catholic living called prayer intentions where you can ask for the prayers of others.

Welcome to Catholic Answer Forum!

May you find a piece of God in everything you encounter! I hope your crisis passes leaving you relatively unscathed and better in touch with your spiritual life than before 🙂.

Thanks. I will look into that. I have done the same. I’ve been a part of some churches with really great people who love God, but something has always been missing.

Great. I recently moved from a small southern town where virtually everyone is protestant to a small town in PA where many are Catholic. But i still don’t know many people in church well enough to ask questions.

Thank you. It has actually. I still have a lot of things to figure out, but basically this has been a time of wrestling with God. I have decided to trust him even though nothing in my life makes sense at this point.

I think you’ll find most of the people charitable and more than willing to answer questions. Are you taking RCIA courses?

Yes, there are a lot of us Catholics here in PA! I’m west of Philadelphia myself and have lived here over twenty years now. Except for some winters in Florida, this is home.

I was toying with the idea. Now im considering it more seriously.

It’s a great thing to go through to learn about Catholicism. My wife and I went through it a few years ago. Going does not mean you’re committing to Catholicism, but it would be a necessary step into Catholicism.

Thanks. I guess i always thought I should be more certain first. I mean, what if I get to the end and i’m not ready? That would be my main concern. I am really struggling with the Eucharist, and that is a pretty major issue. I don’t believe or disbelieve at this point. I’m just not sure.

what if I get to the end and i’m not ready?
Well, then you don’t enter. There have been a few people in our small church who have gone to the RCIA classes two or three times before formally entering the church. We also occasionally (rarely) have a person come with no intention of entering the church, but wants to understand it better.

It is a good way to learn about difficult teachings because you have the opportunity to question and interact in a personal way.

What Mtamum1958 said. If you get to the end and you’re not ready, you don’t have to commit. But, you have to attend in order to become Catholic. It’s a no-lose situation. It’s a great place to learn about Catholicism (the Eucharist included) and discern whether Catholicism is for you.
