agapewolf and kage_ar…I do appreciate you both explaining this. The way you explained it is how I understood it though. The reason I understand it, is because I am in such marriage that you, as Catholics consider not valid. Of course I see it differently obviously. A vow is a vow to me. No matter what or where I said it. I could have been standing on the toilet and it would have been a vow. I do understand where you both are speaking though for a Catholic marriage to be valid, so I do understand that. I guess the thing is, not all follow these laws of the Catholic Church. Of course not all Catholics do. I mean of course you all here will think it is awful but these were discussed with my husband before I married. I was married before and my marriage failed because of an affair on his part. In the years following my divorce, I found out a lot more than I had not known and felt as though I was in a complete lie of a marriage. Now that was not my fault. When I married him, yes I meant it to be for life, but apparently he didn’t see it that way. So, I had studied a little on Catholic marriages and found out alot that of course was not going along with what I believed. So, I told my future husband, no I would not get an annulement. Of course my husband never asked me to do this. I just read it and told him flat out no. I also would have never agreed to say yes, any children I agree would be raised Catholic, because that is not something I would or could make a promise to do and hold up to it. These were things I told him that I could not do. Now, he then had to make a decision what he wanted to do. I never asked him to compromise on what he believed. That was a choice he made on his own. He had the same option that I had…either saying yes or no. I stood up for what I believed in. I mean I am glad he did, because I guess we would not be together now if he hadn’t and I couldn’t imagine my life without him. It is funny how one of the worst situations in my life, which was my first home was destroyed, could then turn into one of the best things that happened to me. God meant for plan A in my life to be the one that worked but that fell through because of sin…I am not on plan B and there is no doubt that God blesses those broken roads and there is no doubt in my mind that God blesses what we see as failures. Anyway, just my thoughts. I know neither or most on here will agree but we all have a story. And of course I know where all of the Catholics here think my marriage lies. I do think it is admirable that you stand by your faith so strong. I do appreciate your (name removed by moderator)ut.
We all have rules that we have to go by. Even in the United States there are laws to get married that you have to do, such as obtaining a license and etc.
