Nfp and aging, help!

I’ve noticed the past several cycles that my post ovulation temps are much lower than they used to be. Timeline of everything is the same, still seem to ovulate at the same point each cycle, periods are the same, preovulation temps are the same, post ovulation temps are still slightly higher than preovulation, but still several degrees lower than what they have been at that point in my cycle traditionally.

I’m thinking progesterone is what raises temp, right? And I’m a month shy of 39, is this typical as a woman ages? I’m guessing this is just a sign of me getting older? Lower progesterone?

I’ve recently turned 40 and I’ve also noticed lower post-ovulatory temperatures.

Phase 1 signs of fertility are also less pronounced than previously.

Also, cycles are shortening up (so we’ve dropped a number of Phase 1 days). I’ve had 24 day cycles when back in my 20s, my norm was 30+ day cycles.

I suspect what this means is that fertility is not quite what it used to be.

I’d encourage you to read up on perimenopausal NFP–it’s a very interesting area.

Also, don’t freak out about progesterone levels if you do get pregnant. There are supplements that many women with similar problems have to take. The supplements are kinda gross, but it keeps the baby happily embedded.
