My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

Earlier on this week I came across an article on the main-page of www.gettingmarried.ie (a website linked to by www.catholicireland.com) and was shocked beyong belief at what I read. I could not believe such an inapprorpiate article was being published on a Catholic website about marriage.

As well as being very negatively toned and grossly unrepresentative of the experience most couple’s have with NFP, the article is littered with biological inaccuracies and with scandalous comments about NFP.

These include:

"Part of me is very angry with the ‘male church’ for imposing its moral guidelines upon us without lifting a finger to help. "

and

“Natural family planning is the best of a bad job.”

among many others.

I found the entire article very distasteful and was extremly distraught because it paints an unkind and very unfair picture of NFP.

I have written in to complain about this article to the editor of catholicireland.net (despite the fact that I do not live in Ireland) but I haven’t got any satisfactory reply, and more importantly, the article is still up.

Please please, if any of you is so inclined, it would be wonderful if you could write in to editor@catholicireland.net and ask that this article be removed immediatly.

It would be a great service to many young engaged couples if this rubbish is removed and replaced with something more truthful.

Thank you

I wrote in some comments. I had to tone down what I really wanted to write. What part of fidelity is hard to get?

All we can do is try and try some more. Sad that this article has appeared.Pray always and spread the truth.

I wrote and basically said these people were poorly trained. The heart of their gripping was a resentment on her part for having to interrupt her work schedule to have/care for children.

I detected a very selfish attitude, which pushes the blame off on the Church for “imposing” NFP.

This couple has marriage issues, if you ask me, and NFP is getting the blame. Not alot of self-sacrifice going on there…

I wrote and told them I could get them some follow up instruction, and that they should, in all fairness, have an interview with someone who is happy with their practice of NFP.
