I was told that in order for me to be a Catholic I needed to beleive what is stated in the Nicene Creed which I do.
The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass yet it isn’t mentioned in the Creed??? Am I missing it?

Thanks

It isn’t mentioned because there was no dispute over the Eucharist in the early church. The creed is focused on the Trinity; it is what we believe about God.

The creed is focused on the Holy Trinity. In the earlier centuries there was no debates over the Eucharist. The creed is also based on our beliefs about God.

The Nicene Creed gives only a subset of all the Catholic truths you need to believe to be a Catholic. If you are looking for a fuller expression of those truths that mentions the Eucharist, you could look at Pope Paul VI’s Credo of the People of God.

Yes, you are. In the Creed, you say, “[I believe] in one holy catholic and apostolic Church”. It’s the Church that teaches about the “source and summit”, and you’ve expressed your belief in the Church, so there you go.

(BTW – you’re misquoting Lumen gentium. The quote is that the Eucharistic sacrifice (not the Eucharist itself) is the source and summit of the Christian life (not of the Mass).)

Thanks.
Actually I wasn’t quoting at all. That is just what I was taught.

Fascinating! OK, then – either you were taught incorrectly, or you recall what you were taught inaccurately. Either way, it’s all good – the “source and summit” language is good stuff… but it’s important to know it accurately! 👍
