I’m wondering what you all do for your nightly prayer? I’m seeking help with my own prayer routine. I always feel like a I have a long list of things to pray for and ask God for and I don’t know how to be more concise.

I would say that I typically have minimum 20 minutes (for Rosary) and up to 35ish minutes of prayer before bed. I’m not exactly sure, just a rough estimate.

Well, perhaps an Act of Thanksgiving and gratitude. An examination of conscience is pretty important at the close of the day. It can be followed by the Confiteor and an Act of Contrition. A prayer for our Lord to watch over you as you sleep, to wrap up. This should leave you enough time for special requests and intentions. You also have those 5 decades of the Rosary which you can attach intentions to, of course.

Chanted Compline is always a good way to close the day. It doesn’t take long.

When I was younger I used to enjoy saying the rosery in the moonlight. It made me feel safe.

Sometimes I miss the clarity.

Examen and compline is it for me, then a sort of goodnight and general thanksgiving and petitions for family and friends really. I can’t argue with the suggestions above, just add that, examen sort of flows into Compline really as a practice for me. I don’t think I’m the only one that does the two together, or following close on the other’s tail. But try a few ways and see which one fits you individually. God bless.

I’m not sure that my nightly payers will be of any help to you as they tend to be more circuitous than concise. I pray chaplets with the help of my Kindle to assist me. Chaplet of St. Michael is my usual go to as I have a strong devotion to the Angels and Mary the Queen of the Angels. Divine Mercy Chaplet song podcast is another one that I pray before or as I’m going off to sleep. Some nights I make it through the both of them other times I fall asleep half way through the first one. Both are audio versions so I can try to maintain my focus on the words. But I do find my thoughts drifting to problems or concerns that I may have or prayer requests placed upon my heart. God knows my needs and wants so I feel that He will answer in His time for whatever is in my best interest. I don’t feel compelled to necessarily list my petitions for Him. It all just flows out in my semi-awake state of mind along with the words of the chaplets. Not as structured as you’d prefer but it suits my personality and my relationship with God. He created us all a little bit differently yet loves us equally!

Could you explain what the compline is? I’ve never heard of it before.
