Granted, this happened in elementary school. The N64/PS1 rivarlry was quite fierce back in the day.

This is simultaneously the greatest and worst thread I have ever read.

How did this start and why did Fantasy Boy feel the need to tell a Catholic board about his elementary school problems over his wrong opinion of the Playstation?

Are you disputing that video game console partisanship is what’s really wrong with society? Clearly you haven’t thought this one through.

I would never question anyone’s loyalties to brand, and I will risk my life to defend someone’s freedom to do so. It’s just one of my favorite aspects of this message board: when people, seemingly out of nowhere, make a claim in the heading and then argue its validity in the post. No one was even thinking about it until it was posted, and yet there is such passion in the discussion.

My day would’ve been fine if I didn’t read about Nintendo fandom. Or what music people are listening to. Or getting the opinion of random messagers on a Catholic forum about the upcoming MLB season rather than the talking heads on ESPN.

But this is the beauty of the Catholic faith. We are not of this world, yet we abide in it. And with that comes the ability for us to discuss all things with virtue and morals, and apply our worldview to society.

Seriously, these people need to get off their high horse. They think they are better then God himself because they have Mario, Zelda, Metroid and Pokemon.
You forgot Starfox, you can never forget Starfox. It contains the wise words of Peppy the Hare: ‘Do a Barrel Roll.’

God Bless,

Christopher.

Fantasy_Forever,

Did you get badly flamed on IGN or something? 😛

I have owned and enjoyed all of Nintendo’s home consoles over the past 25 years. I don’t feel any particular need to defend that preference. I have no interest in shelling out hundreds and thousands of dollars to own multiple consoles (and all the paraphernalia that goes along with them). And I’ve never felt let down by the Nintendo consoles and games I’ve played (“Mario is Missing” notwithstanding).

I think Nintendo fans – especially those of us who are old enough to have lived through the rebirth of the video game industry in the wake of the NES – get irritated when youngsters start going on and on as if Nintendo’s contribution to the gaming industry is “no big deal” because the Xbox is so kewl. That’s just not an honest view of the history.

I definitely have a clear preference. But there’s nothing wrong with having favorites. I’m sorry you have evidently suffered persecution for your own preferences. I’m not sure why so many gamers are so territorial (perhaps because the gaming population skews towards adolescent boys :D). I’m happy when Nintendo is successful, but I’m glad Sony and Microsoft are around to keep them honest and force them to be innovative. 😉

Can’t we all just get along?🙂

I had a NES and a SNES back in the day, then I switched to Playstation after that. Does that make me the new Adolf Hitler simply because I don’t want to play games that are largely aimed for children?

There is also Reggie fils-amie, (jerk) but that is another story alltogether.

😃

Hey, at least this thread is only 4 1/2 months old. Someone resurrected the Heavy Metal thread which was started seven years ago. 😛
😃 I just like that picture, mostly. Picking up an argument four and a half months after it died is worthy of at least a  , though.
