It is fascinating to watch. It’s like those driver’s safety training videos except that instead of mangled cars it’s mangled relationships.

If you have cable, or a dish, you should be able to block all the channels you don’t want through the parental controls. You should also be able to block certain material on a TV equipped with the V-chip.

I block FX, and I block LOGO and I block a bunch of others. I refuse to buy Showtime.

The technology exists to make it possible to go on the Internet, and pay not only by the channel, but by the days a buyer wants to see the channel. While we wait, I would still like to sit in the living room and watch good TV; hence, the blocks.

BTW- Do they still make that device to put on the TV that entirely locks kids out of it? It was pretty handy.

I don’t watch Nip/Tuck regularly but I’ve seen enough episodes (I think) to say that evil or depravity are not glorified but have rather “unpleasant” consequences. The lives of all the characters (regular and guest) are shallow, empty and sad. Is that a comment on the whole area of cosmetic surgery/enhancements? Perhaps, but with a lot of exaggeration for sensationalism.

I doubt anyone comes away form watching the show feeling uplifted or hopeful. I personally feel a little shellshocked.

There’s a part of me that keeps hoping for a conversion experience for Christian. That could be interesting since he has little patience for $cientoIogy in the current story line.

One of the three theological virtues is Hope. Sounds like this show is nothing but an offense against Hope. It’s evil to make evil seem good - you got that part correct. But it’s also evil to sow hopelessness. Justifying the show by saying that it show consequences for doing evil doesn’t work. It should also show the good that results from doing good.

Black Jaque, I made an observation. I didn’t try to justify the show. Can you tell me how you think I did?

BR,
I’ve seen enough episodes (I think) to say that evil or depravity are not glorified but have rather “unpleasant” consequences.
I suppose after reading it a second time this doesn’t necessarily come of as an attempt to justify it. I don’t know, then I read it again, and it does seem like it…

Not that you were trying to justify it. If you say you weren’t then you weren’t - but what you typed seems like it…sort of.

At any rate, if you didn’t justify it, it seems as though others did justify it by that same argument. I know for sure I’ve seen women justify D.H. by saying it shows the unpleasant consequences of evil.

Okay, justifable meaning watching it has some value, right? There are negative consequences but the nudity and graphic sex are over the top. If one wanted to make a point it could be made with some subtelty; it’s been done. -

I’m frustrated that they have an interesting storyline with the baby now. I’ want to see how it pans out. I just don’t know if I dare tune in again. Does the storyline make it justifieble (esp. if it ultimately shows the value of the child in his relationship with his parents)? No, just interesting. I don’t trust that Hollywood will do this right.

SHAME ON ANYONE WHO WATCHES SUCH A SHOW! And to the people who watch it knowing that it’s no good, even worse for you. You are ignoring your consciences!

God is IN sULTED by this. I’m speechless that people are so willing to look at pure EVIL!

God help us!

I think a major of loss of business by people cancelling their cable service will make more of a difference to the company than a petition or letter.

Nobody is forcing this show on anyone–don’t watch it or get rid of the tv.
I agree. I watch the show. Children should not watch the show, and I believe that is one reason why it comes on so late. The channel changer still works on my remote control.

You know, some things that are bad for children are also bad for adults. Since your remote works, I suggest you use it more diligently and discerningly!
I can’t believe anyone could justify watching trash like this show puts on the air. Would you watch it if Jesus were sitting next to you? Because He is you know… The Holy Spirit that lives in each of us is offended by us doing sinful things. It’s GOD that is offended, does that mean nothing to you people?
C’mon, beastiality? It’s the opposite of the good that God has created for us! Please! think about it.

Excuse me? It’s not MY tv viewing that’s damning MY soul. I meant what I wrote in my previous post with all sincerity. You are doing damage to your soul. I’ll pray for you.

Amen Kelly.

Anyone who thinks its acceptable to watch such a program has to seriously consider their focus in life.

Would anyone be comfortable watching it with Mary the mother of God next to them, let alone God Almighty?

Peace and God Bless.

KellyER, you are excused. And with all sincerity, I think I should pray for you as well.

I think that’s why I like Nip/Tuck so much, the writers are absolutely blind to the possibility of an encounter with the Living God. Their brand of salvation is only personal and temporary.
