I am so sorry to hear of your loss. What a great tragedy.

In reply to your question - This is a great and wonderful opportunity for evangelization without words. A humble and gracious acceptance of the hospitality of another location will say a great deal about the beauty of our faith. The fact that the services are held there might just encourage others within that community to “poke their nose in” just to see how we do things.
Who knows what graces might flow from such interaction.

I wonder if a Protestant church burned down if the Catholics would invite them to use their hall? I’m not trying to be a jerk by asking this. I truly wonder if they would.
 
Entirely possible I would say…I wonder if the protestant group would accept…:D.

I would suspect that if (like the in the article), several churches offer their space, the protestant group would more readily accept the hospitality of another protestant group.

Just my opinion of course and it might depend on the group…

For instance an Anglican or Lutheran group might accept the offer of the Catholic Church because it is set-up more readily for a liturgical type service. (The Catholic priest would simply remove the Eucharist from the Tabernacle for the Non-Caholic service.)
On the other hand a group that is less liturgical - baptist - COG - and many so called “non-denominational” would be less likely to accept because of the presence of things they find objectionable (images, crucifix, etc.)

So I would say that there are several factors involved in whether an offer would be made and more importantly whether it would be accepted.

SirMadog–I’m so sorry about your church building. Thank God no-one was hurt in the fire or in fighting it.

I’m glad other area churches have offered their hospitality. While I’m not trying to be a jerk, either, accepting their gracious offers while even thinking of hoping to convert them away from their churches is not being a gracious guest in return. Put the shoe on the other foot. Would you respect another church which used your building with any intent of converting people away from your church?

There are other times you can hope to convert them if you believe you must.
 
I am sorry over the loss of your church building. Remember that the Church is not a building, it is all souls in Communion with Christ. God willing, your parish will have a bigger building rebuilt soon. It is fine to hold Mass in a protestant church or a secular location as your bishop wishes. I would not think in terms of converting a protestant church who let you use their building, that might seem uncharitable. Lead through actions, not words.

Sorry to hear about your church building!

Coming from an Evangelical background myself, and still having very good friends who are evangelicals, I have found myself having to defend some of my Catholic beliefs to them.
And I have tried to explain these beliefs in a way that I think they can relate to.

I think the biggest obstacle is our belief in the role Mary plays in the Church. When my closest friends asked me if I prayed to Mary, I said: ‘Catholics believe that the Body of Christ is One, and that it is always One. Just as I can ask you to pray for me, Catholics believe that if you were to die, I could still ask you to pray for me.’ They paused and thought about it, and then said, ‘Well, when you explain it like that.’ Of course Protestants also believe that the Body of Christ is one, so I began with a statement that I knew they believed in too. It’s important to discuss from common ground, and it is sad when either side approaches the other with the goal of disproving the others’ faith. (not that you’d do that). So IF SOMEONE ASKS YOU, this may be an idea.

This could be a great opportunity.

Gratitude for their Charity, offer to share things that are not necessarily polemical like Catholic books or CDs.

Piety and devotion probably convert more people than arguments.
