Its that I have been trying to go back to the Church. I contacted a parish that had a school and convent attached. I never got called back by either one. That left me drifting as a young adult. Then I got invited to a Baptist church by my supervisor. I was Baptist until I married my husband. He was willing to try RCIA with me this past summer but something just awful happened at one parish and now he will not consider the Catholic church at all. He is going to an eastern orthodox. I can no longer go there. I see the two churches as one, eastern orthodox and Roman Catholic. The more I study the more I see that the Roman Catholics are more like the older, mature brother, and the eastern orthodox as the younger brother. In the eastern orthodox I am not even seen as a Christian. At least in the Catholic church, having already been baptized and formed a Catholic (catechism, first Holy Communion) I am a Catholic. I have identity, yet I am not ‘fully’ formed. I tried starting an RCIA class last year but the deacon in charge never called me back. I called and left several messages
I think I will try that one again, I was attending daily mass there with my friend and it just felt like home. I cry when I read the story of the prodigal son, how he was welcomed back home after a life of debauchery. I didnt lead such a life, yet I have struggled so to get back into the church. Something is definitely missing in these RCIA/adult confirmation programs.
