Celibacy in priesthood was an importantaspect in the success of the Church. Imagine if the bishops and the Pope has their own family? Would you think that the Pope can still do his ministry in the Church like today?

Birth Control is a definitely not the cup of tea of the church and God Himself.
Birth Control in the form of Natural Family Planing (NFP) as well as abstinence are most CERTAINLY allowed by the Church.

I also NEVER advocated for celibacy in the episcopal ranks, only the priesthood. Also, the 21 Eastern Churches sui iuris allow married men to be ordained priests, and they don’t appear to have problems with married priests nor do they have a shortage of vocations to the priesthood.

Eastern bishops are required to remain celibate, and I am in favor of a similar arrangement in the West. Men who have married first can be ordained as priests, but cannot be bishops. It is certainly worth thinking about.

We have permanent married deacons… perhaps expanding this to a permanent married priesthood is worth considering.

About once a month or so our priest substitutes the baptismal renewal questions (“do you believe in God the father almighty maker of heaven and earth?” “I do.”) instead of saying the Creed with no baptism happening during the Mass. I think he does it just to have a change of pace. I wonder if this is licit? He and our parish overall are improving, but there are so many small things that could drive me bonkers if I let it. He still leaves “us men” out of the Creed although the rest of the congregation says it…

As I said, I do not think our Priest left out the creed on purpose; I believe he just forgot, he is in his late eighties and normaly only does a 5.00pm Mass with a small congregation, but yesterday the Church was busting at the seams.

All our other Priests were away that day.

Isn’t that odd – we’ve had the same thign happen - -the congregation is fine with “for us men and for our salvation” – but there’s this one priest who only says “for us, and for our salvation” – lol…there are times I wish the congregation would put a bit more emphasis on that one word he leaves out…just to make a point…(but that woulnd’t be very nice, would it?!)

I wonder if your priest is aware he is not authorized to change the words in the Nicene Creed. The Holy See has reserved approval of all liturgical texts to itself, and to alter the Creed to leave out the word “men” would violate Canon Law 838 S2, 846 S1. Unfortunaltely, this does not stop some priests from changing the words of a prayer during Mass.
