That’s not correct. There is plenty of scriptural evidence of Purgatory.

I find nothing there that shows evidence of purgatory. Whoever the commentator was, he or she doesn’t seem to understand symbolism very well. Or possibly understands, but intentionally is using certain verses inappropriately.

There has to be, or it seems plausible at least, that there is “another place” whereby your soul will have all it’s impurities burned away, as it were, “as though through fire” in order to enter into the perfection of God’s presence. You’re a sinner aren’t you? Don’t worry about the P word…it’s not a bad thing, and we all know that nothing imperfect can enter heaven. Unless your soul is spotless:hmmm: , you’ll appreciate this stage before eternal glory. If you were to see God now you would burn up::bigyikes: …because of the imperfection of your soul. Somewhere it says that if you say you have no sin, that you call God a liar.

If you knew for sure that someone was damned, then your prayers would be in vain.
But nobody knows whether a particular person was damned. So it is always a good thing to pray for the dead.
Amen 👍

Not only pray for but also offer Indulgences.

If God were an unmerciful God, He would not have sent His only Son to die an ignomous death for us. The fact He did, demonstrates there is almost no limit to His mercy.

Who goes to hell is not for us to know it is for us only to love and pray for others including the Holy Souls and others in need of our prayers both living and dead. No prayer for the dead is ever in vain or wasted.🙂
