In the gospel of Mark 13:31, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.”

Not sure but here goes. “Heaven” in the temporal sense sometimes refers to the sky, and not the place where good people go to be with God. By the same token, “Earth” for you does not exist after you die, so if the heavens
(space - the universe), and the earth pass away, the word of our Lord and God will never pass away. In other words His truth through the Gospel will never mean less than what it means now. Just like your soul which is immortal, the truth of His spoken word can never be destroyed. Like the song - “His Truth Is Marching On”.

I think its a figure of speech, to express how that God is eternal. That it is more likely for Heaven to cease to exist, than for God & His Word to cease to exist.
Its like the most unlikely thing you can imagine (Heaven ceasing to exist) would happen before that God Himself would stop being, or stop fulfilling His promises.
