I’m reading a commentary on Genesis by Fr. William Most , and talking about Noah and the deluge he says this:

Could the inspired writer have made use of an ancient story, after purifying it of polytheism? In general such things are possible, as we have seen. Or both could have had a common source. But we know now thanks to high-resolution photos taken from our satellite that the ark is indeed physically there, far up on Mt. Ararat. I learned this from a highly-placed officer at the Pentagon, who has himself seen the photos. He added that our army sent a ground expedition to the ark, walked about in it, saw the stalls for animals, and measured it, finding the same dimensions as in Genesis. At some times the ark is covered all over with snow.

Fr. William died in 1999, but I’m not sure when this commentary was written.

As for the part emphasized in blue, is this true? Has anyone else heard of this?

Been found for some time now!

Google “Watts” and follow the expedition and it’s problems.

Even Moses’ route out of Egypt and most probable crossing site has been ‘found.’ The site could easily fit a million people although I doubt that many left Egypt.

The ‘nay’ sayers have also had time to let their venomous spittle dilute the ‘findings.’

I have read of other sightings, some incredibly interesting and believable. I also read from a learned man that this is a subject one should be wary of. A false claim, proven untrue, can only do damage to the revelation in the Scriptures. It is enough to believe it existed without having proof its remains still exist. If ever any definitive proof is found that would be a bonus. But God has a habit of making such things in a way that tests our faith. What I love best is the divine type the Ark symbolises. It represents the Church and the opening in its side is said to represent the wound from which Christ’s last blood was shed for us and through which IS THE ONLY MEANS OF SALVATION, just as the door of the Ark was the only way to salvation from the punishment of the Flood. The Old Testament is full of such associations. The truth of one endorses the truth of the other.

It is not often that I agree with you cassini, but in this case I do. You are correct. Even Answers in Genesis agree that reports of the finding of Noah’s Ark in Turkey are so far incorrect. See Special report: Amazing ‘Ark’ exposé. If even AiG are not convinced then it would be very wise not to take these reports seriously.

The CIA has an image they’ve labeled “Ararat Anomoly.”

Peace,
