Non-catholic ash wedsday

I believe in catholcisim but while under my parents roof out of respect for their disliking of the catholic church I have not expressed my beliefs (although they allow me to attend mass) If I am attending this ash wedsday then is there anything I should know. For instance am I allowed to recieve the ash?
 
Yes, you may receive Ashes. Anyone who wants to may receive ashes as a sign of the penitance.
